[ He's kind of rusty on the written form of the Old Tongue, but Ranulf wanted to learn as much as he could as soon as possible. And for now he wanted to test a theory on the international nature of language comprehension here. If they could understand a language which was slowly fading out of use, then that would be better proof than anything. ]

[ There's a thoughtful pause, which causes an ink blotch. He didn't think his experience with new cultures would get as diverse or otherworldly as this. Talk about more than he's bargained for. ]
I think it would be a little much to look for a common-point between us, but I'd still like to know what the places you were from are like. If you don't want to talk about it I understand! I'm sure there are better things to do than chat with a curious cat. Or you know, if you're from here you can say a little more about this place too. If I'm staying a while I might as well get to know this place better.
For me, well... I was born in the forested country of Gallia, on the continent of Tellius. We recently finished a big ol' war, and I don't want to bother you with the details. [Basically the world as they knew it almost ended but things worked out just fine. ] It looks like the continent's in good hands though, so I'm not too worried. See, I already left home not too long ago, so I'm prepared beforehand to not know what exactly is going on back there. I used to... y'know, do small favors. [ For the king, but let's not toot our own horn here. Not to mention all the hazards he's had to deal with. ] Met a lot of people. There really is no such thing as an average town! There are odd blokes everywhere if you look hard enough, and I mean that in a good way.
As it was I already am a bit of a traveler, actually. So on my part, I'll just consider this place an unplanned detour! Though I get if some others among you might not be so optimistic.

I would love to tell you about the world I am from, but honestly...I don't know much about it. I didn't get out much, but what I saw of it was wonderful...and I miss it.
no subject
Oh, no need to apologize! It happens... Were you too ill to go out often? A friend's friend of mine had that kind of situation.
no subject
[More like 'not allowed to leave at all', but she'll keep that to herself for now.]
no subject
I know she was just looking out for you, but... She's not here now, right? You should take this opportunity to see the sights, though it's not quite the same as back home.

[ He thinks, for a second. ] It sounds a little cliché, but how about a day out while wearing a disguise? I'll keep the crowds off your tail if it comes down to it. [ It's not too far off from things he's done before. ]
no subject
This is not Tumblr, to which all parties are grateful.]
TELLIUS? [Although the way the handwriting sprawls together it almost looks like Teluus. Ah, excitement.] I've heard stories of Tellus! Legends!
no subject
Did you now? What kinds of stories?
no subject
Stuff about the Radiant Hero and the goddess and things like that. Legends that had traveled from a distant land to my own. Plus some catchy songs though I don't exactly remember the words so don't ask me to sing them for you. I never thought I'd encounter something familiar in this strange land.
no subject
You're telling me. I'm surprised someone else knows about Tellius and some parts of its history here! So it seems we might be from the same world... What's your name?
no subject
...
Which really would be a great deal more unbelievable four or five years ago. Still. The next words are chosen very carefully.]
I am Owain, son of Lissa. I come from the Halidom of Ylisse on the continent of Ylisse. [...that sounded incredibly stupid. What happened to picking his words carefully?]
no subject
Geez, that sounds like a mouthful. [ --And redundant on the latter end. Was he nervous? Because there's really no need to be! ] I take you're a blue-blood, then. [ A brief consideration. ] Can't say I've ever heard of Ylisse...
no subject
Then Archanea? Akaneia? I never remember how to spell it.
Yeah, my mom's a princess! Well, Exalt. She becomes Exalt in the future? And we're trying to prevent that so she hopefully won't ever become Exalt. It's complicated.
And it's kind of hard to believe. I don't not believe you, it's just Tellius. I never thought I'd write to someone from Tellius! Gods, did you know Ike? Is it true that he bursts into flames whenever he unleashes his final attack?
no subject
[ The enthusiasm this guy has only grows, and Ranulf's only becoming fonder and more amused. ]
Hmm... sounds like a bit of politics, and more than that. If you haven't succeeded your mission yet, isn't it a little dangerous to be back here? [ Not that they can do anything about it... Ranulf kind of regrets that he wrote what he did. ] Never mind that, I'm sure your comrades are doing fine on that front! Since you mentioned a "we".
Ike? Oh, you know. He was kinda good with a sword. Lots of swish. Lots of clang. [ Teasing, of course. Though that tends to not carry so well over text. After a while though, he decides to indeed indulge the guy. ]
Yeah okay, there might have been fire.
Maybe.

. [And this was the point in which he tapped his quill against the page for a moment before he realized he was leaving a small ink dot. Whoops.]
And probably, but time travel goes in both directions, right? So as long as I figure out a way to arrive in time for the final battle I should be okay. And it should make for a cool entrance! So until I know for a fact I won't be able to be there I'm going to assume I'm going to make it in time.
[And by all the gods great and sacred it really does sound like...] Wait. Were you there too?
no subject
To be honest I probably wouldn't have believed in time travel stories before arriving here; now basically anything goes. If you're going to make a dramatic return you better stay in shape then! It's good to be optimistic.
[ And then came the reply that he was expectant for. ] Yup, I was in that hike up the Tower of Guidance. Though I don't know if anyone in our party chronicled that extensively. One thing is for sure we'll never forget it... [ He stops mid-reply in short contemplation. ] And sorry to disappoint, but the thing with Ike and blue fire was a one-time thing. Doesn't make it any less incredible though. --That and I'd be concerned if he spontaneously combusted whenever someone made him angry.
[ And since formal introductions from his end of this conversation are long overdue... ]
I'm Ranulf, former aide to the Gallian king.

Does he actually have three heads?[Immediately crossed out. He can ask that in person (assuming that Ranulf didn't catch that before it was scratched out which is definitely possible.)]I'm supposed to be some kind of giant killer so I'll be in trouble if I don't.
no subject
"Giant killer"? To do with your role, I presume? That doesn't sound friendly.
no subject

Meanwhile I know pretty much nothing about what I'm supposed to do. It's got something to do with boots though.
no subject
Maybe you gotta walk somewhere? Go on some kind of journey or just walk a lot.
no subject
no subject
I can go with you if you want company. I mean, if it's okay. I gotta make sure there's not a giant in the countryside anyway and it would be weird being on my own again after traveling with the Shepherds. And I'm pretty sure other people have the same problem. They're supposed to find a stick or a forest and don't know where to look.
no subject
Hey why not? It'll be a good opportunity for me to learn about Ylisse, and for me to tell you all about Tellius. [ Which is probably exactly what Owain wants to hear. Especially stories about Ike. Hoo boy. ]
In that case, it wouldn't hurt for us to poke around for a bit more company too if we can find them. Who knows what kind of adventurous bunch are around in a place like this. But maybe we should wait after Christmas. Lamb told me about this "Santa" person who can deliver gifts all over the world in one night! If he shows, I want to see if he's on par with the rumors. [ ooc-ly it's because other RPers are likely not around during Christmas, but shhh. ]
no subject
[Shh indeed.]

no subject
Probably. Maybe he's got some kind of bloodline power? You know, like the brand. Or maybe you don't know? Or maybe he is a god.
apologies for the late!
After what I've seen, I wouldn't write it off. [ But as for that last sentence... ] Gods aren't always friendly though, so we best keep on his good side, eh?
I wept tears of pain and sorrow.
owain nooo!! (but at least i finished a run of fea during that asgdgf)
I read that as tea for a sec and thought, "Man, that was a longass chug."
By some dark and twisted figure carved from nightmare and shadows! Probably someone who has a desire to plunge the entire world into despair! And the only way Santa can defeat him is
1. By summoning the hopes and dreams of everyone worldwide and creating the ultimate weapon!
2. Or maybe [And while it's written as 'maybe' the way it was written - drawn out words and a slight flourish at the y - implied more of a drawn out word. Maaaaaaybe.] he has to become one with darkness to fight darkness? It's only after he's consumed by the shadows of his enemy that he manages to somehow emerge as Santa Shadowblade, a grim avenger.
An all new fe:a sequel with Virion and Maribelle as the lords...
1. It'll take a massive force of evil to defeat this good! But to spice things up, surely... in the depths of where hope seems lost, the children chant! They believe in him! They'll stand by him, and know that he'll win! Moved on by the forces of wonder, he seizes victory!
2. Santa Shadowblade sounds intimidating...! Would that kind of end really be satisfying? Won't it change the giftgiving tradition? Or maybe it'll only change the sorts of gifts... Things vaguely nightmarish and frightening? Hopefully it doesn't urge people to begin hating him and try to hunt him down! He'd have become misunderstood... What a tragic end!
