( The writing shows up very late in the evening (if anyone's still awake) and the page is a bit difficult to read, not because of the handwriting; if anything, Yui's handwriting is neat and very much legible. It's difficult to read because of smudging of ink on the paper caused by something wet being dropped on it.

It's not rain though. It's Yui uncontrollably crying because of the full moon outside. )

TO-DO LIST:
1. Find less awkward clothes
2. Find a swordsmith. There's one here.
3. Clean the mansion → might take a while
4. Shopping list
- rice
- fish, eggs
- daikon, cabbage, onions, garlic, plum → see if I can grow them instead
- condiments (soy sauce, vinegar, miso maybe?)
- salt
- also soap, toothpaste and other personal items → DON'T FORGET!
5. LIBRARY

I apologize for the messiness of the page but does anyone know how to get to the moon ( That part was hurriedly crossed out, as if she didn't realize she was writing it, but it's still clearly visible anyway. ) have an axe?

I was informed by the townsfolk that I'll need one to get my daily stipend from the ( Looooong, hesitant pause, complete with an accidental ink blot. ) Moon Capital but they were hesitant lending me one. Something about erratic behavior during full moons. In any case, I don't mind paying for your help as well once I get the money. Or the gold, as they had told me.

[Getting over the fact this is some weird way to communicate, why is the paper splotched now? How to get to the moon and the Moon Capital. He has an axe that he technically doesn't need and he can always get another one, but a question first.]

It's Yui. Yui Kusanagi. Just ignore the name Kaguya that shows up on the page.

You aren't Kaguya, but being assigned these stupid names means we apparently get some of their damn baggage.

Not because I want to. My body is doing it on its own. I still feel fine anyway.

I don't think it will but fine. Tomorrow morning. I can borrow the axe by then, right?

Take it and have it hidden every full moon. I'll get another.

I don't think Kaguya has those kinds of tendencies. If you're concerned anyway, you can always have it back once I'm done for the day. Cutting down a bamboo can't take that long.

The bamboo thing is daily if wanted or not, isn't it?

Won't it be pointless? It's not like I'll forget where I'll be hiding it in the first place.

Looks like it. I'm not sure if the ones I haven't gotten since I've arrived is still there too.

That's why you don't hide it. Ask someone else to.

I'm sure 'have it hidden' doesn't mean hide it yourself though.

If 'Kaguya' just came back, they probably won't be.

There's no one in this mansion but me so I would assume the obvious.

That almost doesn't make sense. No Emperor or the Bamboo Cutter?

The Emperor would be living in his own palace if ever, wouldn't he?

But no parents - or at least, it doesn't look like they're here. Suitors do come by every day though.

Suitors weren't much in the story. Guess the other Kaguya disappearing would have the Emperor and parents gone too since they're important.

[kutanagi]

No, I guess not. But if I recall correctly, one of her suitors died or got injured because of her.

( ... yeah, not really the best thing to remember rn. )

Still, that's a really interesting way of looking at it. Does that mean that it's only the main characters who disappear and get replaced?

That's what happens with the tasks. Dunno if you can change it.

Seems that way. They moved the story forward.

I hope I can. I'd rather not have anyone dying for my sake if I'm playing this role.

They're not rushing it, are they?

It may even if you don't want it to.

I don't think any of the stories can move forward.

I'll try to be optimistic about it anyway.

What do you mean? It's a story, isn't it? It's meant to move forward.

It does when the main characters come around. Even if we're here, what if characters like the Emperor are still missing? If we're supposed to follow stories word for word, parts can't be played out.

[Unless more weird Marchen natives step in.]

And that means I won't be able to go back the moon!

This is getting out of hand. But there has to be a way for the story to move on. A proxy or something. Otherwise, we'd be here forever if, let's say, none of the other characters show up.

A question to take to the old man or one of those other characters around. Avoid Death though.

I'll ask him once I see him around once more.

Death? Another resident?

Yeah. Always around nearby. They probably know we're talking about them.

I wouldn't put it past them, to be honest. But is Death not as - ( what's the word ) - accommodating as the other two? Father Time and Lamb.

They were on the first day we arrived. Can't say now.

Why? What's wrong now? Did anything change with our circumstances?

Let's say Death prefers being anti-social.

I would be too if I'm called Death.

But if they're unwelcoming of us, given that we're here as "replacements", doesn't that pretty much contradict what the others are doing?

Death wasn't for the idea. It's only delaying what's going to happen with is natural for everything.

[kutanagi]

Ah, I see how it would bother them. But it's unnatural how the characters in a story are disappearing for some reason. And it isn't like the story is being forgotten.

If the lesson isn't learned, then it may as well be forgotten.

What if there's no lesson to begin with?

Then it's the culture behind the tale.

So Japan's culture is being forgotten? It seems a bit unlikely. Then again, I live in a shrine.

Misunderstood or ignored, but that can cause it to be forgotten.

I still find it a strange thing to be happening. In any case, if my being here prevents Kaguya's story from being forgotten in some way, then I don't think I would mind it.

Except maybe the part where I get shipped off to the moon.
