KIRI

[Yep, Elle's devoted a whole page to her magical book to scrawling her partner's name all over it in big letters.

After the ink dries, she's already getting on to approaching the townsfolk.......who seem to be avoiding her gaze? Wow, rude. At least she's used to it, but the problem is that she doesn't have her white uniform on. How on earth do they know she has Troy? And on that topic-- why is she not dead yet? Maybe exposure to Flare helped to minimize the amount of toxins in her body. Wait, no, that doesn't makes sense considering she drained Sister Heine of her toxins. This is all so confusing.

But nevertheless, her first priority is finding Kiri.

Anyone who's watching from the sidelines will notice some of the human inhabitants making way for her, although the animals seem okay with her presence. However, Elle's not quite used to seeing so many varied animals all in one place, and she's not about to approach them. (She has no clue that some of them talk as well.)]

Ah, excuse me? [Aaaaannnnd ignored. Ugh.] Has anyone seen a boy-- blond hair, red eyes? He usually wears a yellow and black shirt?

Oh, Owain! [He's the only one keeping you alive at the moment, Kiri.

Now that she's taken out some of her embarrassment on him, her attention flickers back to their new acquaintance. How rude of her. At least she's pulling away from Kiri to smile back at Owain. ~~Don't mind the sudden switch back to polite business.~~]

Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Elraine. I hope I didn't disrupt anything of yours because of my search for him. [Gesturing to Kiri.] But uh what do you mean by 'flash'?

Like it glows when evil-...nevermind. [The sudden switch to polite business is kind of disconcerting. Twas like she was possessed with a dark spirit, except the dark spirit really liked cuddles.] I mean, you can shout across town, right? There's gotta be other cool stuff you can do.

[Yeah, he's regretting using that cantrip more than before, when the only worry was this 'minor headache' ~~and risk internal bleeding, but it's not like anyone needs to know this~~. Kiri would retort to that 'evil' comment if he wasn't leaning on Elle a little more than he'd hoped he'd need to.]

Maybe... Still tryin' to find out.

[Kiri lies through his teeth with shocking ease; no one needs to know about the full extent of his powers. Here's hoping no one will question the irreparably smudged blue, green, and black ink along his arms, and Elle won't notice the lack of Flare so soon.]

You get a power?

[Because she doesn't feel horrible due to Troy's absence, Elle hasn't quite mentally noted it yet, but it won't take that long later on. All this talk of powers is a curious one though.]

I haven't done anything strange yet. Is your role a wizard or something like that? [~~You're a wizard, Harry!~~]

What about you, Owain? I've never heard of anything like a 'giant killer'. Does that role give you powers?

[...there is a pause. It's a noticeable one. Wow, that donkey sure seems like it'- oh wait, it left in the meantime. Uh. Powers.] ...well, I'm already cursed by dark powers due to my lineage and a restless sword hand that cannot be contained once it desires blood, so the forces that enchant this place seem as though they believe that will be sufficient for the tasks at hand. Which involves giants. Of some kind. And a beanstalk? Someone mentioned a beanstalk.

[No idea who, due to the books, but someone had. And now he's feeling kind of gypped right now. People are getting powers? He didn't get powers? What's all of this power stuff he missed out on. Unfair!]

Nay, the only thing I woke up with that was different was a golden belt, upon which was engraved the words... [Dramatic pause, and then he declares somberly:] -'seven in one blow.' [Then, in a more normal tone.] I left it where I'm staying. It's kind of ugly and I have no idea what it means.

[And she changes the subject before he feels the need to reply. Owain has a demon sword thing? Talk about getting the short end of the stick. But, apparently, this beanstalk-man is powerful. A small mental note is set aside to make sure not to shake Owain's hand. Kiri isn't quite sure what to do with this.]

Maybe y'got super strength.

[Thankfully, slowly but surely, his head is clearing -... emphasis on slowly. But, hey, the street isn't spinning!]

[Whoa there, Owain, Elle's sort of stuck on the whole 'restless sword hand desiring blood' concept too. At least her sudden wariness helps her to be aware of Kiri's current state......And judging by the way he's still leaning on her for support, she should probably be worried in case they need to run.]

W-well, it's better to not be cursed, right? Or...does that still apply here?

[And hey there, Kiri, she's just going to wrap an arm around your shoulder to help you continue standing properly.]

[Being taken seriously was a weird feeling. Owain also didn't know how he felt about the fact that it wasn't the magical teleportation, it wasn't the magical books (although those were weird and he had to take one back for Robin and Laurent and his mom to investigate), it wasn't the lack of familiar faces, it wouldn't be the fact that a living legend was walking about town (although Owain wouldn't know that he was there until later), but it was the fact that someone took him seriously that just made him keenly aware that he was nowhere near anything he could call home.

And so he's going to glance away, if but awkwardly, and that was a fascinating looking roof.]

Gods...probably not? [This was worse than unintentionally making that princess believe he was a mage.]

[That doesn't really give Kiri much relief. At the very least, that edge on Elle's words keeps him ready, even if he isn't at 100%. It all brings up a good point...]

I don't have my power, anymore... [And now I have different powers. Then, he looks over Elle -- a hint of a smile somewhere there.] Y'don't look like you have Troy.

[He looks back to Owain with an agreeing nod.] Maybe. [And it certainly isn't making him any less wary for as much as his head is clearing.]

[For a second there, it looks like Elle might have a panic attack at the mention of Flare, but old the phone--

Holy.

Crap.]

Y-You're right?! [She seriously can't believe it. Elle even has to grab Kiri's hand to realize she doesn't feel the usual burst of energy from him. And when she looks down at her own hands...] I...don't?

[With no sign of Troy that she can sense, she has her explanation for why she hasn't disappeared yet.]

Owain, would you mind? [Her hand is thrust towards his direction. Obviously she's forgotten about her worry for his 'curse':] I know this sound weird, but could you um touch or hold my hand.

[He clearly wants to ask questions. He's staring at the hand desperately wanting to ask questions, or at least a wary sort of, "Why?" But heroes don't ask questions. They just do things. And then question them later. Or question them as they do it.]

As you will, though I am wary of what might happen when our...our? Our fearsome powers collide. [Poke. ...]

[Kiri stays quiet for the most part. What portion of his head is functioning is beginning to register Owain's quirkiness. And then that he's poking Elle. Really, Kiri would comment, if not for trying to piece together why everything Owain is doing doesn't feel like it fits with a 'bloodthirsty demon sword thing lineage'. The boy is confident Elle doesn't have Troy any more, so he isn't keen on stopping either of them... The only concern are Owain's apparent powers. So, he is just going to stand here, hand still in Elle's, pooling what faculties he has in case Owain lives up to either of his proclaimed abilities.]

[Oh, there will be answers to give to Owain, but right now there's tears welling up in her eyes the moment nothing horrible happens to him when he pokes her. The smile on her face doesn't read as sad, however. It looks as if a mighty burden has been limited from her shoulders.]

Nothing happened. I'm so glad, hehe...

[Withdrawing her hand, she uses the cleanest part of her sleeve to wipe her eyes, but once she's done, Elle wraps her arms around Kiri's neck in elation.]

I'm finally free! Isn't that great, Kiri?! [The realization really hits her now, and goodness, she cannot stop the tears. It's hard to hold it together when it's practically been a decade since she touched a normal person, not for treatments or for Flare. This is all kinds of amazing.] This whole kidnapping business is horrible, but-- but I don't have to worry anymore.

[He stared at her for a moment. He glanced down at his hand, as if to confirm that it was still a hand: no claws had sprouted nor was it wreathed in some ebon energy or something terrible like that. It appeared to be a functioning hand. Turned it around, that's the back of his hand. Turned it forward again and that's a palm. Four fingers and a thumb. Everything worked okay.

Gods, it was easy to get Inigo or Brady to cry but this was the first time he got someone to cry just from a poke of the hand.

And then he glanced up and...over Elraine, trying to catch Kiri's attention even though the guy was probably preoccupied but he had to ask.]

What just happened?
